Bob Gurney was born in Sydney in 1944 and resides at Camden, NSW.

After attending a life drawing and lettering course at East Sydney Technical College at the age of sixteen, he continued to sketch up until 1991 before taking up the brush. He then commenced portraiture and still life painting for several years in oil and acrylics under the tuition of Archibald and Doug Moran finalist Dave Thomas.

Bob’s work now consists mainly of land and seascapes, with occasional human and animal portraiture, in which he has developed a realist approach. He has been tutored and guided by other well-known Australian artists, including John Wilson, Kasey Sealy, Warwick Fuller, Graham Cox, Robert Wilson, Ian Chapman, Ross Paterson & Herman Pekel.

Bob is an active member of the Friends of Campbelltown City Bicentennial Art Gallery, Oatley 101 Society of Artists Inc., and Liverpool Art Society. He has participated in a two-man show at the Upstairs Gallery Art Studios, Campbelltown; an eight-person show at Campbelltown Art Gallery, and exhibits regularly in art exhibitions nationwide.

Bob is a popular selling artist whose works are represented in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.

He tutors locally in several mediums, and drawing; conducts his art courier business

(which he commenced in 1997), and is an avid “ en plein air “ painter when time permits.
